Wilson Bio-Chemical (WBC) has been named Runner-Up in the Energy & Sustainability category at the Make UK Awards 2026, recognising the growing impact of its waste-to-value technology.
The award highlights WBC’s work in transforming unsorted municipal waste into high-value outputs—reducing landfill dependency, cutting carbon emissions, and supporting the transition to a circular economy.
In their remarks, the judges recognised both the practicality and scalability of the solution:
“This business’s initiative tackles the global challenge of waste management through a transformative process that turns waste into high-value products. By eliminating the need for source segregation and reducing landfill dependency, the technology delivers measurable carbon savings and supports circular economy principles. Judges praised its carbon-negative potential, scalability, and alignment with net zero ambitions, noting its ability to lock carbon into durable products while creating new markets for sustainable materials.”
Tom Wilson, Founder and Managing Director of WBC, said:
“This recognition is a strong validation of the work our team has put into developing a system that delivers real, measurable outcomes. Our focus has always been on creating a practical solution to waste—one that not only diverts material from landfill, but turns it into something genuinely valuable. It’s encouraging to see that approach recognised at this level.”
Sheila Hughes, Marketing Director at WBC, added:
“Being recognised by Make UK is incredibly meaningful for us. It reinforces that scalable, commercially viable solutions to waste and carbon challenges are not just needed—they’re already here. This is about demonstrating that the circular economy can work in practice, today.”
The recognition from Make UK reinforces WBC’s
position at the forefront of sustainable manufacturing innovation, as the company continues to advance deployment of the Wilson System® across the UK and North America.
